Traditional German Red Cabbage and Apple

  • 2 lb red cabbage chopped
  • 2 red onions finely sliced
  • 3 Granny Smith apples diced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp Himalayan salt


  • Cook all ingredients together in a big stockpot till the cabbage and apples are tender. Serve.
