President Jennifer Stanek brought the November 2019 meeting of the Memphis Herb Society to order at 7:00 in Hardin Hall at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Members and guests were given a warm welcome and all those that brought refreshments were extended a special thanks. A drawing was held for door prizes.
Jennifer Stanek reminded all in attendance to view and bid on the silent auction items presented at this meeting. Bidding would continue throughout the meeting.
On motion made, seconded and approved, the October meeting minutes as presented in the November Newsletter were approved.
Sherri McCalla gave the Herb Garden report. The Herb Garden is still in need of volunteers to help weed. Upcoming Herbal Work Study program beginning at 8:00 at the Memphis Botanic Garden will focus on seeds. Participants will work until about 10:00 a.m. and then Sherri will teach a class. Updating the Herb Garden signage is still a continuing project.
Jennifer Stanek then reminded the group of the Herban Renewal grant program. Applications are now available for organizations to apply for these grants. The application deadline is March 2, 2020. All were requested to spread the word to groups eligible to apply.
Our speaker, Lydia Koltai, was then introduced and began her presentation of Herbal Gifts from the Earth. Her presentation included a discussion of beneficial herbs and their use in honeys, teas and bath blends.

After the presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting of the Memphis Herb Society will take place on January 23, 2020. ~~ Anita Lotz
