Growing Your Home Apothecary
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURE.
Lydia will share how to grow some of her favorite medicinals for the garden– yarrow, comfrey, stinging nettles, holy basil, calendula, elderberry, mullein, rose, echinacea, motherwort, hibiscus, elecampane, St. John’s wort, passionflower–and how to use these plants for home health care. A discussion will include propagation and ideal growing conditions for each plant as well as their medicinal uses.
Lydia is an herbalist, forager, permaculture gardener, nature awareness practitioner and student of the Earth whose journey with herbal medicine began over 15 years ago when she first learned “weeds” could be both food and medicine. She has been using herbs for her own health and the heath of her family ever since. More recently, Lydia has been teaching herbal medicine in her community for the past three years, providing herbal medicine through her business Elder Moon Apothecary, and selling medicinal herbs to encourage others to take charge of their own health, develop relationships with the plants, and make their own medicine.
