Anne has enjoyed being outdoors in nature since she was a child growing up outside of Fayetteville, NC in the 1970s. She spent lots of time at her grandparents’ in Erwin, NC. It was their avid love of plants and gardening that led her to pick up her first wildflower identification guide, after which she was hooked on finding and identifying plants in the wild, especially after moving to Memphis in high school and seeing the amazing plant diversity in our area. Her interest in native plants led her to begin volunteering at the Lichterman Nature Center in 2011 as a Master Gardener (now former master gardener) after completing the course. After a couple of years as a volunteer she was hired as a Teacher/ Naturalist. When the position of Plant Activities Coordinator opened she was excited to fill the position. She was an employee there for 7 years as the Plant Activities Coordinator, where she managed the horticultural operations, cultivated areas, invasive plant removal
and the annual plant sale. She also serves on the Tennessee Plant Conservation Alliance steering committee as the western region horticultural partner and was the 2022 President of the Memphis Horticultural Society. She recently became a member of the Mid South Wild Ones Chapter Board as the 2022-23 Vice President. In her free time she enjoys feeding her numerous cats and dogs, listening to music, science related podcasts, visiting natural areas, learning more about the natural world and seeing the fruits of her labors in her yard.
